Time for change - conclusion
This section has challenged you to think about your priorities for change within your work. It has presented three scenarios – one in which you are free to make whatever changes you wish, one in which you can make limited improvements, and one in which each improvement requires a corresponding compromise.
None of these situations necessarily represents the reality of your situation; only you will know how easy it is to bring about change once you start to implement it. But it is important to think about your own priorities for change and what you can compromise on. Knowing what you want is the first step towards getting it.
The exercises in this section presented you with some aspects of work that are generally important to a wide variety of people. But it may be that there are other aspects of work that you want or need to change that are unexplored by this exercise. If this is so, record them in the workbook section entitled ‘other things I want to change about work’. We’ll return to all of these things later when looking at options for the future.
