Time - summary
Although we can all be better or worse at managing our time, there is a point at which it becomes impossible – where we simply have more activities or responsibilities that it is possible to carry out.
Most people lead full and busy lives. Deciding to make a career change implies taking on an extra time commitment. That usually means having to make other changes to free up the time.
It’s important not to get caught in a vicious circle of needing to change things for work-life balance reasons, but not having the time to make the changes.
It is surprisingly common for people who are feeling their work-life balance is out of control – partly because they work long hours - to say, “I really need to find a different job, but I just don’t have the time to do what’s needed.” Recognise that the time has to come from somewhere to make changes, even if it involves difficult choices in deciding where that somewhere will be.
